Every year, City of Craft partners with local and/or handmade businesses of all sizes to make the event a richer, better experience for all. On top of seeking monetary sponsors, we use materials like handmade goods, gift certificates, services, and pop-up programming to make the event as stellar as possible. Sponsorships allow us to showcase like-minded businesses and makers outside of the vendor context. We use in-kind goods to fill our swag bags, vendors packs, midway games and volunteer rewards. In exchange, we give local/handmade businesses as much of our public platform as possible – through on-site display, social media, blogging, website consideration and printed materials.

Installations and Interactive Programming
DEADLINE: August 31, 2011
Although City of Craft operates primarily as a winter craft fair, we love to partner with local, national and international makers, groups and organizations to present challenging and skillful craft-based works and interventions. In particular, large-scale installations and interactive programming has fit well into our space and atmosphere. In the past, these collaborations have included group shows, outdoor art interventions, pop-up programming at neighborhood satellite venues, window shows, an interactive midway, activist media stunts, a broom closet screening room for two and more!
For 2011, there is no formal application process for interactive or installation work. Project proposals can be emailed to email@example.com. A detailed outlined of your proposed project, including logistical outlined as well as a little information about you or your group is all we need to get started.
A knowledge of City of Craft and past attendance of our events is definitely an asset for interested parties, as we do not operate in typical gallery or art event modes – installs can happen late at night or very early in the morning and the work is only displayed for a weekend. We also occupy a very idiosyncratic space, The Theatre Centre on Queen West West. Work that can suspend from the 30 foot ceiling, fill a wall, overtake a broom closet, or provide any sort of wonder to the washrooms is greatly sought.
