Gallery in the House, 82 McDonnel Street, Peterborough
When: November 26th, 2011 – December 17th, 2011
Deadline for Submissions: November 5th, 2011
Deadline for Works dropped off: November 19th, 2011
“Electric City Lights” is the name of the show but not the defining theme, merely a way to
point out the role artists’ play as luminaries of our city, and the illuminating effect art has in our lives.
Gallery in the House is a community‐based, independently curated gallery project.
Organized and operated by Elizabeth Fennell (BA, MMC), this project seeks to exhibit and
sell visual art works (and crafts) by local producers. The project’s goals are twofold: to raise community awareness about local artists and artisans, and to get artists the most money for their work. To that end Gallery in the House keeps overhead costs low by using private
residences as host spaces. By only charging a minimal participation & commission fee, the
costs incurred by the host are covered as well as some of the time spent organizing and
promoting the show.
Participating artists should reside in or around Peterborough, make works of a craft or
visual art nature, and be willing to pay a $25 participation fee and 10% commission on
works sold. The process of participating is simple. Express your desire to participate by
contacting Elizabeth Fennell, via any of the methods below: Phone: 705.743.6471 In person
or by mail: 569 Sherbrooke St, Peterborough, ON K9J 2P4
